Admissions


The Crawford House program serves female residents of New Jersey, age 18 and older, who have been assessed with alcohol and/or drug addiction. In order to be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • They must recognize that their primary problem is alcohol and/or drug addiction and demonstrate a familiarity with the disease concept of addiction;
  • They must be free of substance use for at least 14 days;
  • They must be free of communicable disease (Tuberculosis);
  • They should not be experiencing any emotional or behavioral conditions that require medical monitoring. Women will be accepted who are on certain medications.
  • They must be employable;
  • They must be homeless and indigent.

Referral Guidelines
Referrals to Crawford House are accepted from medically monitored and managed in-patient programs, intensive outpatient treatment programs, or other supervised, structured settings. Women may also self-refer.

If the initial admission criteria are met after the telephone screening, an in person interview will be arranged.
